Patterns (Coventry)

So while others took a trip to Copenhagen, we have been given a task to look for patterns around us. I decided to look for patterns here in Coventry, because I thought there’s so many different things that are unseen.

At first I decided to head to Fargo Village. I was always interesting in hippy looking places with street art, so I thought this would be something that will definitely have something to offer when it comes to patterns. I haven’t got my camera with me and it was all freezing, but I managed to take some pictures with my phone. Even though there was some amazing street art, I needed to look for something that has a pattern. So I was quite struggling. I came across this drawing and I really liked how the lines are used to fill in the squares that has been drawn on the bricks. I was fascinated straight away, because it looks different from what I’ve seen there mostly.

There was also this drawing that I quite couldn’t figure out completely, but there’s variety of patterns used. I liked the idea that there’s a lemon and some other fruits that are drawn differently compared to what I’m used to see.

On my way back to university I have noticed something interesting on one of the bus stops. This was meant to be a board with bus timetables I assumed, but the way it looks now I’ve found quite interesting. This looks like someone scracthed it, but actually it aged and this is also the damage happened because of the rain etc. I have figured this looks destructive and it perfectly matches my concept for poster which is destruction. It also has sharp lines like metal logos do, so it’s pretty much win win situation.

Here’s some more pictures of street art that I’ve found:
