A Letter From My Future Self

Dear Skaiste,

I’m your future self and there’s some things I would like to let you know about. I know this might seem weird, but something happened here in 2029 and I was able to send this letter to you. That’s the only thing that I was able to fit through this portal.

Firstly, I think you should say to yourself “I refuse to let my failures be the reason I gave up. I refuse to give up, because I failed.” This might seem difficult right now, because I know I wasn’t feeling confident enough at that time, but trust me, this goes a long way. I know that you have those bad moments and I understand that it’s something you should experience either way, because it let’s you to get rid of things that aren’t needed in your life, but please be aware and don’t give up on your dreams easily, just because of the failures. They don’t define you, what you learn from it is what defines you. Only this way you’re able to move forward and be the best self you could be. Just don’t give up on your dreams.

Right now, I’m self-employed and I’m doing well. Since I work globally, I get to travel a lot, because I’m the one responsible for how I plan and do my work, but I live in Lithuania where my family and friends are, because this is the only place in the world I could consider home. Do you remember the dreams you had since childhood to do something with IT? Well, you could say it happened. Even though your dream evolved to something else what is more creative, you still get to work with IT and trust me this is so much more interesting than what you wanted to do for most of your life. I’m able to create any sorts of websites and design them from the scratch. Now that I look back there’s some things that I think I could have done better from the beginning and it is actually taking more effort in coding that you’re doing right now. I know it goes naturally for you, but trust me extra knowledge will help you to reach your goals easier. Also, I have styled some logos for metal bands and some of them are already well known, so keep showing your interest in it. I know that now you are struggling having to study full time, working part time jobs that aren’t really something that inspires you as well as blogging about fashion. This is definitely a lot of work you have to do, but trust me it will be so worth in the end! Just keep fighting for it. Be as determined as you used to be in video games.

I know now you’re wondering how did I got where I wanted. Well, the answer is quite simple, you should stay true to yourself and do what you love the most. At first, I was creating websites on my free time while studying and that’s how I’ve built my portfolio. I must say to you “don’t be afraid to share your work online, put it everywhere where you can for potential client to notice you.” Of course at first I haven’t got many jobs, because I haven’t got an experience needed to work with individual clients. It was tough and emotionally draining, because I needed money to survive, so I decided to look for a job where I worked a couple of years. I’ve learned a lot of things and gained some experience there, which was something I needed in the first place. After that everything else just fell into place. I didn’t wanted to work for that company anymore though, because I wanted to move back to Lithuania and work globally from there. You already know the rest.

A little advice here when it comes to your fashion blog, I have wanted to say that some things are not the way it seems. It takes more than just half an hour daily to make a post, it actually takes a lot of time to analyse algorithm that keeps changing all the time and you have to adapt yourself to it. Don’t think that keeping away from posting will help you to get rid of so called “shadow ban”, this thing doesn’t exist. I know that it might not seem at this point that it’s actually getting you somewhere, but trust me, it will. Just keep doing your research and keep yourself up to date with changes within different platforms that you’re using. This will also be useful for you when you will have some advertising campaign projects, because you already know the drill. Remember, you are exactly where you need to be.
