I have decided to take a look back to the very first week in university. Here’s something that I’ve found very interesting that we had been doing which was “squeezing the lemon” exercise and this is what I’ve thought about it.
Basically, at first I was pretty skeptical about it as I haven’t understood what is being expected from me. The very thirst moment I haven’t thought about anything creative, I’ve thought about something that’s practical, but the main purpose of this exercise was to help us think outside of the box.
When I have realised it, I came up with variety of options on how to squeeze the lemon. One of my favourites was to playing guitar with the lemon while strumming would do the job. I believe this is something that comes from my personal life, because I used to play guitar a lot, but now simply I just don’t have to do it.
In conclusion, I believe such exercise was meant to show us of the things we will be doing as a graphic designer and find different approaches to design problem solving. Till this day I still remember this exercise and I believe this is basically what I’m doing with my work. That is finding a way to squeeze that lemon.
